OUR DREAM IS TO CREATE THE FIRST CIVIL SOCIETY TV CHANNEL IN AFRICA – CS NEWS FOUNDER
Mayowa Adeniran has been there and done that, with over 15 years across the Media and Civil Society Organisations, and he has found a gap between these two sectors which he has set out to explore.
To this end, he created the CSNews TV, (Civil Service News), an organization that plans to serve as a voice to the civic space, which includes, social enterprises, civil societies and non- governmental organisations.
‘There has been no voice for the Civic sector in Nigeria and we have set up CSnews tv as a non-profit outfit to give a comprehensive coverage to the activities of Civil societies,’ Adeniran said.
CSNews Tv established in March 2017 is one of the organisations adopted under the Civic Media Lab as part of its Incubation programme to help set up several communities of practice within the media space.
Adeniran added that the partnership with Civic Media Lab is in order to help CS News TV develop a strong foundation using the facilities available in the lab.
‘I got an opportunity to pitch my idea to the Lab and they loved what we are building. I believe the lab can help nurture the dreams and aspirations of this project and that is why we are here.’ Adeniran added.
“The dream is to set up a civil society news channel, the first of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa, which will become a major force and an alternative to mainstream media,’ he disclosed.
Mayowa Adeniran is a journalist with experience with organizations like The Nation newspaper, Premier FM and BCOS both in Ibadan. He is also a consultant to several DFID sponsored Intervention programmes in the country.
